Kentucky Auto Insurnace & Tips for Everyday Road Safety Go Hand in Hand!

Sometimes we are so focused on getting to our destination, running our errands, or getting our kids to school on time that safety gets forgotten or overlooked.  Yet there are a number of things you can do to help increase your safety and decrease your accident risk.  This could mean not only a safer ride for yourself and your passengers, but you could save money – on fuel expenses, vehicle wear and tear, repairs and Kentucky auto insurance by avoiding claims and deductibles.

Tips for a safer ride include:

  • Don’t use your cell phone for calls or texting while driving.  Keep your hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road.  According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) distractions inside your vehicle while driving can greatly increase your risk of a crash.
  • Always wear safety belts.  Again according to IIHS research statistics, correctly worn safety belts reduce the risk of fatal injuries from crashes by at least 45 percent in cars, and this is even higher in vans and SUVs.
  • Drive at a steady and constant rate as much as possible, and slow down if you are inclined to speed.  This can save you money in terms of fuel costs, speeding fines and vehicle wear and tear, and help you avoid accidents in the process.
  • Do we need to say it? Don’t drive if you have been drinking alcohol, as this also increases your accident risk.

Safe driving not only reduces your risk of accident, injury and property loss, but may also mean lower premiums on your Kentucky auto insurance as you build up a good driving record. And of course, your regular passengers may appreciate it too.
