1944
Roy B. Johnson founds the Johnson Insurance Agency as a general insurance
agency.
1956
Mike Pohlmann founds the
Pohlmann Agency.
1961
While still a student at Stetson University in Florida, Steele Gregory
returns to Danville to manage the Pohlmann Insurance Agency while Mike
Pohlmann resumes active duty in the military.
1963
After his graduation from college, Steele Gregory returns to Danville and
joins Mike Pohlmann in operating the agency.
1970
Bill Burks, an expert in commercial and business insurance, leaves the
Travelers Insurance Company to join the Pohlmann Agency
1972
The two largest insurance agencies in Boyle County, The Johnson Agency and
the Pohlmann Agency, merge to become Johnson & Pohlmann.
1978
Dave Cheese leaves the Travelers Insurance Company to join Johnson &
Pohlmann.
1980
Johnson & Pohlmann moves into its current location, the site of Danville’s
first supermarket, from its former offices across the street at 114 South
Fourth Street.
1992
Scott A. Burks, with more than five years of commercial underwriting
experience, joins the agency.
1997
Johnson & Pohlmann becomes a Charter Member of APPEX– Agents Peak
Performance Exchange. APPEX is an organization of successful insurance
agencies from throughout the United States dedicated to the improvement of
agency operations
and efficiencies.
